Hi there,

today i've installed Zorin OS 10 Ultimate on my Acer Aspire 5750G. Install worked perfectly but after i started my laptop the touchpad and wlan doesn't work.
After i installed Ubuntu a few days ago i've the same troubles but this time I didn't find anything to this topic.

I'm totally new into linux so i have no idea how to solve this problem. Would be nice if you could help me.

Hope you're doing well.

Greets,

Sebastian

Hi, with regards to touchpad issues, open 'Synaptic Package Manager' (found under Menu | System Tools | Administration) - you will need to provide your login password to elevate you to 'root' (bit like 'Run as ...' in that other OS!) and in the search box near top middle of the interface that opens, search for 'touchpad' and install any software that comes back by 'checking the Box' to the left of its name, right-clicking and select 'Mark for installation' then click on 'Apply changes' from the menu across the top, then Re-boot to see if it has had any effect.

With regards to your wireless issue, please wait for madvinegar our resident network expert! ;) :D

As regards the wlan, can you please post back here the results of the following terminal commands:

lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 net
lsusb
sudo lshw -c network
sudo rfkill list all
lsmod

Hi, thanks the touchpad is now working. I simply forgot to plug it in after i cleaned my laptop inside..

It will took me some time to do that cause there's another problem now. When i start my laptop i can do nothing with it.. mouse doesn't work and also the keyboard.. i tried to get into the terminal and with much luck i get into it and then he told me following sentences:

Zorin 10 sebastian-Aspire-5750G login: [ 112.240510] NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [Xorg:1514]
[ 140.272526] NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [Xorg:1514]
[ 146.719888] INFO: rcu_sched self-detected stall on CPU { 0} (t=15000 jiffies g=3180 c=3179 q =0)
[ 172.309118] NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [Xorg:1514]

and the last sentence again and again.

Should I reinstall the whole OS or is there another problem or solution for that?

Thanks for your help!

-Sebastian

Well some missing information there! You had not stated you had taken your machine apart which might have caused the resulting issue? ;) :D

I would go for fresh install and if still issues you may have to take it apart to see if anything else is loose! :?:

Well i have forgot to say that. I've token my laptop apart 2 days before i updated to Zorin but Ubuntu works fine after that.

Today i tried to reinstall it but at the end of the installing process (where the pc makes a restart) the laptop won't show any reaction.. ant thats where i am.. waiting for my laptop to do anything but there's still the screen that shows me it will restart but yeah.. it won't restart..

Well all I can say is it is hard to say if Zorin is the issue or your hardware - depending on what version of Ubuntu you installed you should try the equivalent of Zorin - if it is Ubuntu 15.10 then try Zorin 11 Beta. ;) :D
