[SOLVED] Help with Maxthon

sue

Sun Feb 07, 2016 11:59:37 am

I am trying to install maxthon browser.

I am getting dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of maxthon-browser-stable:
maxthon-browser-stable depends on libgcrypt11 (>= 1.4.5); however:
Package libgcrypt11 is not installed.

I have tried to remove maxthon not sure it worked

When I right click the deb package and open with GDebi Package installer I get this attached a screen shot hopefully :)

Hi sue,

Based on that screenshot it means you have downloaded the package but it won't have installed as dependencies not met - you just need to remove the downloaded .deb package if that is how you did it?

Keep us posted!

;) :D

Hi Swarfendor,

Well before I get you to solving my problem I have been reading another post on here about Zorin v10 finishing and v9 is the best version to have, so I am now going to look at going to v9 I just hope I can take the setup I have with v10 with me because I have Paint Shop Pro working very nicely with my plugins installed as well and I do like Zorin very much.

Just to let you know where I am up to with maxthon

I have removed the downloaded package

I put "sudo apt-get install" in the terminal and this is what I got
sudo apt-get install maxthon browser
[sudo] password for sue:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package maxthon is a virtual package provided by:
maxthon-browser-stable 1.0.3.10 [Not candidate version]

E: Package 'maxthon' has no installation candidate
E: Unable to locate package browser

I tried it that way this time but previously I tried every other way possible I have been googling for a couple of days ;)

Not working for me...at all!

Tried the above, also had the libgcrypt11 issue, it IS installed. When I go to either Software Manager or Synaptic to repair, Maxthon gets uninstalled. Have tried this process 4 times now. giving up. I have enjoyed Maxthon as a "2nd" browser for years on Windows. Just my luck.....
