Zorin Updates by Ubuntu

Latest update for Opera came with a message stating that Ubuntu 10 was no longer serviced for updates and to install Ubuntu 10.05. As I have Zorin why do I need to migrate to Ubuntu Wiley Wolf? (I have ubuntu on my laptop so that I can try out software before putting it on my desktop or not... is this a conflict)
I appreciate that Ubuntu Software Centre services Zorin, I just like 'the difference' in the way that my desktop is set up. Plus I guess that a new install needs me to take off all my data first - which is a pain!

Anyone know what is going on?

OK, Zorin 10 reached end of life on 31.1.2016 - either update to Zorin 11 or downgrade to Zorin 9 - 11 expires this July, 9 expires April 2017 - this summer the next LTS release (12) should be out based on Ubuntu 16.04 = expires April 2021. ;) :D

Hi Swarfendor437,
Looked at Zorin 9 as the best choice, however there is only an ISO download which presumably re-writes the HD whichever version I choose...(So I will need drivers and files saved somewhere??). Is this usual with all Linux OS's...ie updates of versions are simply a re-install of a new version every time? (this is not stated anywhere in the literature). Does one simply save data on cloud and drivers on a system disk for use as required periodically.

Wolfman covered an update scenario - don't know if that would work in reverse - see his Post installation guide - it is in there - first Global Sticky below forums. ;) :D
