[MOVED] Icons to the menu bar

How do I move Icons onto the menu bar? In windows you simply drag and drop as long as there is room. I can't seem to do the same here. What do I do to place favourite app icons on the menu bar? I'm not well versed on linux, so I will probably need a lot of help from time to time.

When you launch an Application, its icon appears in the Panel at the bottom on the left - whilst open, right-click and select 'Add as Launcher'. ;) :D
