Core Versus Ultimate? And Photoshop / Lightroom Questions

Thinking of installing Zorin 9 on a Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHz, 4 GB Ram, 64-bit MB, spinning hard drive, and intel onboard graphics (no discreet graphics card).

What are the major differences between the Core and ultimate editions?

Is anyone using Photoshop CC and / or LightRoom CC on Zorin 9 core or ultimate?

The machine would MOSTLY be used for:

youtube
facebook
email
google apps (like sheets)
libreoffice

Mostly online stuff, but might occasionally need it for Photoshop / Lightroom.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the principal difference between Core and Ultimate is that a lot of software you could install yourself separately that is in Ultimate is done for you. Key elements that are present in both are Firefox for Browsing and Thunderbird for Email, LibreOffice as 'de facto' Office Suite. YouTube should work withoug any issues - I did replace Adobe Flash with Gnash for use with Opera Browser. Now the fundamental differences are in respect of Zorin Background Plus and Zorin Look changer - Zorin Background Plus allows you to have a video of your choice or two of the ones provided as active Wallpaper. With Zorin Look Changer you get 6 'looks' in Ultimate, but only 3 in Core. Ultimate has Win 7, Win XP, MacOSX, Unity, Gnome2 themed Desktops (i.e., Menu) and Core just has Win 7, Win XP and Gnome 2 Desktops.

As for Photoshop and Lightroom you need to check that out here:

There is a very nice GNU/Linux alternative to LIghtroom - Dark Table which I used to create these wallpapers:

Thanks!

So the ultimate doesn't include "exclusive" Zorin apps. Just more linux apps that one could - if they have the time - download with the package manager anyway, right?

I guess my BIG concern was whether the way that wine is integrated with Zorin might be different between the core and the ultimate editions. It doesn't appear to be different though.

thanks again.

The main difference between core and ultimate is like I said, honed applications that work out of the box - the fundamental difference is more variants in the Look Changer (twice as many), Zorin Background Plus. The only other Zorin specific piece of software is the Web Browser Chooser Manager - which is in both Core and Ultimate. ;) :D

Thanks again for the explanation. I really appreciate it.
