Problem after trying to resize partition for dual boot

Ok. I wanted to set up dual boot of zorin lite and Windows 7 on my laptop currently running 7.

Where things went wrong is with the partition resize option I selected. It was still running when I went to sleep last night and when I woke up it said there was an error and it was aborted.

After that it said I could install zorin but not resize the partition but I did not see any info listed there for an existing partition, like it wasn't seeing the hard disk.

So I rebooted and tried to access windows but I am now getting a bsod every time very quickly after the Windows logo appears.

I went into repair mode to look at the restore options but once again nothing is listed there for system, like my system is not being seen.

What is the next step I should take to gain access again to the hard drive and my previous windows install?

Thanks for your help

Did you ever create a system repair disc? You will need one to repair your mbr; if not there are utilities that may do this.

Here's a good article to fix the boot errors,

Thanks for your reply, Swarfendor.

I had system recovery built in, apparently, because the repair launched by itself.

I have good news. I let the repair run, and when I rebooted I was able to get into my Windows system again.

I think I'll do the new partitioning from within Windows this time. Then just install Zorin into the empty partition in dual boot mode afterwards.

And thanks for the link to that guide, qnarkill. That is the most thorough guide on the topic I've seen so far. Will keep it bookmarked.
