Help with a newbie installing Zorin OS 9 lite with Windows X

Hi everyone here in the forum. I am a newbie to Linux and would like to install Zorin OS 9 lite in a dual-boot setup with Windows Xp (On an old P4 1.5 ghz with 512mb of RAM) I am struggling to get GRUB to act as the bootloader. I have followed the suggestions of installing Windows XP first and then installing Zorin OS 9 lite afterwards (the alongside option) but upon reboot I am constantly taken to the partition not found, grub rescue screen. Is there someone that could assist from the community in giving me details steps that can lead me to resolve this issue? Any assistance is much appreciated. :)

First off was XP already installed? Are you starting from scratch with a clean install of XP first? ;) :D
