Hi, I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that one - awaiting for an official announcement. ;) :D

In the past have they released updates not long after support for the older one ended?

It has usually been about a month - that said 16.04 is a new milestone and as I have posted elsewhere there have been issues with 'buntu 16.04 from various posters on here and reviewers on YouTube. If you want to keep up to date and don't want to risk a lack of security updates then you could temporarily drop back to Zorin 9 - supported til April 2019. ;) :D

personally I don't have much fear of outdated operating systems, it doesn't seem to concern me at all.

My windows 3.1 works better than any other computer I have.

good idea :)

believe me, it's ok to upgrade every 6-12 months but if you upgrade too often it gets to be a PAIN! I mean it!
