Let me ask a question about Japanese input in Zorin OS. I installed Zorin OS 9 core 64bit with English keyboard. Do you someone know that how I can use Japanese characters for inputs (I changed language setting from English to Japanese, but still it doesn't change characters)? Some pages say that use Ctrl + Space but it also doesn't work. Thanks.

Hi, have you ensured that 'iBus' is active?:

And did you make sure that you clicked on 'Apply System Wide'?

Also have you checked to install the correct keyboard in 'Text Entry' settings? (Just to point out I am on Zorin 11 32-bit Ultimate - can't remember if Text Entry is present in Zorin 9! )

Also if no text entry present you could try Zorin Software Centre using the guide for Ubuntu 14.04 which Zorin 9 is based here:

or search for 'Text Entry' using Synaptic Package Manager search filter but ensure that your downloads of software sources point to 'Main Server' and not just the servers for your location (country where you reside). ;) :D

Thank you very much for your reply. I think that IBus is in active (I also tried fcitx), and I have applied `Apply system wide`.
However, I noticed that in the Text Entry (which is on Zorin OS 9 too), the key board appears as Japanese keyboard in Japanese language source, not as English keyboard.
Is this the cause of this problem?

Just to be clear, you have a Japanese keyboard that you want to use with Zorin and you only want to use Japanese input/output? If so you will need to remove the English (US) language/s so you get the default input you require - for me it was to enable English UK as the default language so I remove any reference to US. ;) Also you may have to run updates after you have installed your new languages and apply system wide both on the first screen/tab (Language) AND second tab, Regional Formats. ;)

I found the following page (in Japanese) which says that the author had the similar problem with Japanese on Zorin OS 11. The author also claims that it must be a bug.
For fixing the problem, the page suggests to reinstall mozc and fcitx then use fcitx-configtool to set keyboard after logout once, and it worked!
