Change from live USB drive to Hard Drive

I have just installed Zorin Lite to a 16G USB drive. My first impressions are very positive; so much so that I am seriously considering a full hard drive installation on my Lenovo Core 3 ThinkPad

The reasons for this are:

Immediately picked up my home wireless network - configuration just a matter of inserting my wep key.
Immediately picked up my Fuji Xerox multi function laser printer - printed the test page perfectly - this is in my opinion is a BIG plus.
First class package management - I installed Libre Office and LibreCAD with no problems.
Geary email client pre installed - easily added my Outlook and Gmail accounts.

And so to my question (probably stupid) - now that I have everything set up on the USB drive is it possible to install it packages and configuration details straight on to the hard drive of the lap top.

What you have to remember is that a live USB does not hold settings unless you setup one with 'persistence'. Some issues may arise with wireless that work in live but not necessarily once installed. You could try booting first with Clone illa and use the 'dd' command to copy the USB across but I personally have not tried it. ;) :D

Thank you Swarfendor - I did set up with a persistent drive of 3G. My major query is do I have to download all the extra packages again as this was quite time consuming.

You would if you just go for the standard install which is why I suggested the 'dd' route:

but having read through the article you will not have a bootable drive - I would advise taking a look at the devs of defunct remastersys project who have created 'respin' as a possible solution - might be worth posting on their forums:
