Dear all,

Recently, my Opera restart itself automatically at an interval,
-> I don't know what make it crazy :?:
-> anyone know what's wrong?

I have tried the following commands to remove Opera:
=======================================
sudo dpkg -r opera-stable
sudo rm -f /etc/apt/sources.list.d/opera-stable.list
sudo apt-get purge opera-stable
=======================================
-> then reboot ZorinOS11-core
-> re-install opera: opera-stable_39.0.2256.48_amd64.deb
-> but I find that the configuration, e.g. the four start websites, are still there
-> Opera still crazy to restart itself repeatedly at an interval

So how to remove Opera completely?
-> will this cure Opera's crazy behaviour?

Thanks for any kind of help!

Hi, You should be able to use either PURGE or REMOVE - the key to find out what is to search the downloaded package details as to what the package that gets installed is called - it should just be 'opera' but it may want the full file name if different. Personally I never used anything beyond Opera 12.16 if memory serves me correctly as you could not remove the search providers it comes with or make new ones the default one - it is still available from the official Opera web site and if memory serves me correctly once more it is 'multi-arch' package, i.e., the .deb package will install the correct version for your OS, i.e., 64-bit. ;) :D

Dear Swarfendor437,

I have run the command "sudo apt-get purge opera-stable" to PURGE opera,
but it obviously do have its setting not being purged
-> so am I missing some parameters in the PURGE command?
or I have to run other command to do the job?
or need to the Package Manager?
or...

Actually I am using all these browser Firefox, Chrome and Opera at the same time for different purposes.
-> without Opera running properly, some of the jobs becomes not convenient.
-> hope some guru can give an hand

Thanks for any kind of help!

Hi, it may be looking for the version number? Have seen if it shows up in Synaptic?

This post seems to think I am right on synaptic even if it is old and you have to do some manual cleaning too!
