I cannot find what Zorin 12 beta is based on. Is it Ubuntu 16.04 LTS?

Thanks. No I wasn't sure if it had went final. I am still running Zorin 6 LTS on two desktops, and after this long I don't visit the forum very often. I had tried the last LTS, I can't remember if it was 9 or 11 but just still liked 6 better. Ubuntu 12.04 Presice ends support in April 2017, so not much time left. Seems like the release announcements have less info about the Ubuntu base, and I like the LTS versions better myself. I have also been using Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and Debian Jessie 8 on my laptop, so I want to look at Zorin 12 and see what the new OS has to offer. I do love the Mate desktop though. I still think Zorin is a great OS. Again thanks.

Can someone confirm that an updated 12 beta base can be used further?

I assume we don't need to reinstall the final 12 release.

Betas are always unstable - even if you update. If you have a lot of stuff in '/home' the alternative would be to format '/' and install Zorin to there - but do so AT YOUR OWN RISK!

;) :D

Also, see Wolfman's post-installation guide and the section about 'upgrades':
