Bightness adjustment doesn't work

Hi.

A longtime Zorin user myself, I recently persuaded my wife to switch over from Windows and she is now running Zorin 9 on her HP655 laptop.

She wanted to adjust the screen brightness, so I opened System Settings -> Brightness, but moving the slide bar there doesn't make any difference to the brightness.

Any ideas anyone?
