I keep getting the error message below when trying to use xscreensaver. I just want it to automatically work when my machine is idle. Thanks.

"Warning: The XscreenSaver daemon doesn't seem to be running on display ".0". Launch it now?"

Now I can't even get xscreensaver to launch and it no longer appears as a menu item. Get the following error message when I try launching it through the terminal.

"jacatone@Dell-4600:~$ xscreensaver
xscreensaver: 23:15:14: already running on display :0 (window 0x1400001)
from process 1868 (jacatone@Dell-4600)."

I don't think Linux is ever going to be as reliable as Windows.

Yes, when i triend entering xscreensaver -nosplash, I got the message below.

jacatone@Dell-4600:~$ xscreensaver -nosplash
xscreensaver: 14:02:02: already running on display :0 (window 0x2600001)
from process 11519 (jacatone@Dell-4600)

Any other ideas?

Try removing from terminal with:

Code:
sudo remove xscreensaver
.

I removed then reinstalled it. It's back in the main menu but am back where I started. Still have to open it to activate it.
