I am new to Linux. I am looking to get rid of Windows. Zorin seems to be it...
System:
Dell Optiplex 780 Desktop Core 2 duo 3.1
4gb Ram
Zorin 12.1 x64 is the only OS installed on 80gb HD
Default chosen for partition install
Internal graphics used - Q45
Internal Audio chip used - Works ok
Zorin runs fine in Live and also while installed on the HD via a 19" Dell display.
Zorin-OS-12.1-Core-64.iso
Display is Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4100 46"
I have connected the Dell 780 via the second display port only ( Single port used) with a DVI to HDMI converter to my Sony Bravia 46' television HDMI input. It works fine however, it sees the tv as a Sony 72" television and not a 46", hence the edges of the screen display are outside of the visible tv screen. For example the menu is below the visible display.
It reports the resolution correctly as 1920x1080
I have updated software via update
Is it possible to get the driver to recognize the TV as a 46"?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, can't find ubuntu related issues but found this:

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/ ... re-correct

one of the posters mentioned turning overscan off? Another changing the format of the screen?

Hope the answer might be in the thread somewhere? ;) :D

That's it..
After spending the better part of 2 days looking for a solution I told the Wife we had 2 choices.
1. Continue with windows - I don't think the forum rules allow me to show that response.
2. Get a 72" TV - I was sure someone would confirm it

Unfortunately, the bravia has an option to set the "Display Area" to "Full Pixel". So now the display is correct.

Thanks..
