Installation & wifi issues

All of a sudden, Zorin no longer allows me WiFi access.
I was considering upgrading to Zorin Ultimate, but have the following questions:
1) will my current settings (screen background, pointer size, show desktop, etc.) be overwritten?
2) would this installation restore my WiFi access?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated, as my only other potion is to reformat and go to Windows.
Thanks

What more information is needed? I was using Zorin OS 9, 64 bit, on a T61 ThinkPad with 4 GB RAM and suddenly, have no WiFi or ability to access WiFi. All I want to know is whether installing a new, higher version will fix this. If no one knows for sure, then the easiest thing is to remove Zorin entirely and revert to Windows.

If you went on a Windows forum you would be asked the same question on more information needed: we ain't clairvoyant!

Read this thread and you may stumble on a possible solution:

Think pads don't tend to be GNU/Linux friendly from web articles I have read; users need to complain to hardware vendors on poor GNU/Linux driver support.
