Hello,

I am a new Linux user and would like some advice. I recently installed Zorin OS Ultimate on a Samsung R519 laptop. My system details are:

memory: 3.8 GiB
processor: Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU T4400 @ 2.20GHz x 2
graphics: Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset
system: Zorin OS 12.1 64-bit
disk: 153.2 GB

My printer model is Brother DCP-J4120DW. I have installed the printer and am able to print the test page and things from the internet. However, when I try to scan a document, the printer states:

No PC is found on the network. Check if your PC and this machine are connected to the same network.

I have been unable to work the scanner, even after using the following command:
gksudo simple-scan

I still receive an error message:

No scanners detected
Please check your scanner is connected and powered on

and no scanner settings are visible in printer properties even when I use the system-config-printer command.

Here is the output of the following Terminal command: sane-find-scanner

sam@Samsung-R519:~$ sane-find-scanner

# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

and the following output the second time (I typed sudo in front of command):

sam@Samsung-R519:~$ sudo sane-find-scanner

Advice in resolving the issue would be much appreciated.

Thanks. It is in fact, the link I already used to download the drivers, but scanner remains undetected.

OK. Open a terminal an enter the name of the scanner driver; it's what I had to do to get the Canon all-in-one to scan and add to favourites after launch.
