[RESOLVED] Zorin OS 9 - Black screen

Hi all! I wanted to install the previous Zorin LTS (version 9) on my computer, alongside Windows 7, but I can't even get to the live desktop session! It is a pure black screen. I'm thinking my NVIDIA card is to blame, as I've used this exact distro on my computer before. It's an EVGA 750 Ti 2 GB card. Any ideas on how to fix this?

When GRUB shows press E on keyboard then press space bar then enter

Code:
acpi= off nomodeset xforcevesa

That combo of flag parameters worked! I was able to install it just fine. I was stuck at a 1280x1024 resolution during setup though, since my monitor is 1920x1080. I can't seem to boot into the OS, though. It just gives a flickering underscore and, from what I can tell, isn't even attempting to boot since if I press the power button it'll turn off near-instantly.

Have you tried booting with those parameters?

Yep. The GRUB menu showed those parameters as being filled in already.

OK choose advanced from GRUB, then recovery be sure you are wired to Internet and run DPKG to search for missing packages, then do NOT select continue but shut down and reboot. Keep us updated.

I ended up sticking a GT 730 card in my PC for the time being since I found out ANY 14.04-based flavors refuse to work (I tried earlier variants too, such as 12.04)

So is this issue resolved as far as it can be now? Is Zorin 9 appearing as it should? ;) :D

It can be considered resolved now, yes!
