USB Wifi installation

Hello Zorin group.

I am a new user, I just installed Zorin OS on 2 of my machines at home. It went very well, way easier than any Windows install I have ever done!

On one machine I want to use wifi for the network connection, so I picked up a cheap Anewkodi USB dongle online. Since it came with a Linux driver, I thought it would be do-able.

Neither the Linux driver, nor any Windows drivers work. The Windows 10 driver loaded, but never actually made the unit work.

Can someone point me to a hardware solution that will function, or give me instructions on how to get the USB unit to function?

Thanks for any help I can get, I look forward to learning more about this OS as I have 6 machines here that I want to migrate onto a Linux platform.

Can't guarantee it but follow the guide here as apparently it uses Realtek Chipset:

based on information from this site:

One very basic question: Are these commands going to cause the unit to download files from the internet, or from my installation files?

I will have to either string a cat-5 5 cable upstairs or hump the machine down the stairs if I need to be connected to the internet...

Thanks for the help. I know that this sounds stupid, but these are my first Linux machines. I have a host of other dumb questions to roll out after this!

Sorry to hear of your physical restrictions in connecting - I'd go for the cable if you have any - bumping kit down stairs is NOT recommended!

I have the machine wired now.

I went through all these steps, with no change in operation.

I am not sure what to do next.

Perhaps someone can recommend a PCI slot wireless card that is known to work?

Hi, anything that has an Atheros chip set usually works - check here for a guide:
