Hello all, i'm new to zorin os... :)
Do you have a french board ? my english are not very good..

I have a big problem, and I have not found a solution. ("after a kernel update")

My Zorin os start but I can't log in, plymouth appear and disappear...blank screen no login possible.
I have switch to tty1 and the log file say: "Failed to start show plymouth boot screen"

_Systemctl status plymouth-start.service say: "ConditionKernelCommandLine=splash was not set"

I have nvidia proprietary driver and i use no splash screen, i prefere to see the verbose text mode...but for test i have remove verbose and set splash at the grub command line...but I can't login :(

I have FRAMEBUFFER=y and test with no.... the same error.

What can I do to start my os please ? :?:

Hi, if you can get to GRUB and choose Advanced Mode and then start in Safe Mode, select DPKG (be sure you have internet connection by using ethernet to router if possible) to check for missing broken packages - after it has completed DON'T select Continue but shut the machine down and reboot.

Please do not apologise mon ami! When I was six we had a primary school teacher who started to teach us French, she left the school and it was never continued! Sacre Bleu! My sister speaks fluent French, gaining an 'A' Level and spent part of her training to be a teacher of primary school children by teaching French children in France.#

Au revoir for now. ;) :D

OK, when you are at tty login what happens after entering:

Code:
startx
and press Enter?

startx error is:

waiting for x server to shut down (II) Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.evels, but <RALT> has 2 symbols> Ignoring extra symbolsError

I remember I had the same problem after the last update, but I connected TTY1 and I made a dist-upgrade and a blue message with gdm appears ... Then I click, yes Ok and after restart everything was ok.
But now no update are available.

In other forum I've read that it could be a problem of nvidia drivers and kernel modules after a update
Now I do not dare to make any more updates for fear of breaking my system.

I avoid proprietary drivers at all costs - more chance of breaking than enhancing - stick with the Nouveau GNU/Linux drivers friend! ;) :D
