Wi-Fi not working Dell Inspiron 3520

When I toggle the Wi-Fi to "On" it just bounces back to "Off".

It's a Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop and I just ran Zorin through updates. Still the same result. How can I fix this? I believe it uses Broadcom

Hi, one sure way to establish which make and model is to open a terminal and enter:

Code:
ifconfig -a

This will list all your network hardware - the one you want should be listed as wl0 - though on some Dells (old 600 Latitude) sometimes shows up as hw1 as second ethernet connection!

Just post back the Broadcom information - we don't need anything else.

Here is a screenshot. It doesn't seem to list information about Broadcom.

EDIT:

lspci -nn

Broadcom Corporation BCM43142 802.11b/g/n [14e4:4365] (rev 01)

Unchecking the driver and re-checking it in the Additional Drivers tab got the Wi-Fi to toggle on but I still couldn't detect any networks around me. Manually typing in one of my networks and connecting populated the list with all the routers in the area.

So what is the current status of this issue - are you able to connect? ;)
