Creating Shortcuts

I have a fully updated (as of just a few moments ago) version of Zorin OS 12.1

I have a few programs on my computer that were installed without using any deb based packages. I've been wanting to pin these to my favorites. However, there seems to be no GUI way of creating a shortcut to the executables. It should be as simple as a right click>create shortcut...but this seems to not be the case.

How can I work around what seems like should be just basic GUI functionality?

First off, if these are 'wine' applications (Windows Programs) it is not possible. In 12.1 you launch the menu and right-click from there:

No, these are not Wine programs. They are linux executable's that run from a folder, and therefore don't have any menu entries. There should be a way to create a shortcut.

So they were third party GNU/Linux software, not from Zorin/Ubuntu repos? That is possibly the issue - what are you trying to run?
