When I connect my laptop to a Sanyo 40" flat screen, Zorin screen is larger than the screen so I do not see the "Windows" icon and only see the top half of the icons on the taskbar, and some of the system icons. I'm new to Lenix so I use the names from Windows, sorry.

Hi, you may need to install xrandr and follow this guide:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/XrandrAt work I have had similar issues with Windows and no solution down to TV not supporting the resolutions supported by Graphics card; so no guarantees!

Also had similar issues on occasion and sometimes TV's have a 'Zoom' or screen size setting, 16:9 4:3 etc and some systems/devices change the TV setting somehow.
I use a 40" TV on my main PC and sometimes have had to adjust its 'Zoom'. It is a TCL TV and has button called "Zoom" on the remote with, Panorama, Auto, 4:3, 16:9, Zoom 1 and Zoom 2. Makes a big difference on mine.
