(SOLVED) Periodic posting difficulties

Periodically, I have found difficulties posting to both this online forum as well as others - Slimjet, for example. I have lost quite a few posting in this manner over the last few months - finally stumbling on a workaround.

As I have found when posting my topic on uBlock, unless I have two versions of my posting running in two tabs, my post will not upload with Slimjet running on Zorin 12 (Ubuntu 16.04), saying:

"This site can’t be reached
http://www.slimjet.com’s server could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

and
"This site can’t be reached
http://www.slimjet.com’s server could not be found.
Try:
Checking the proxy, firewall and DNS configuration
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG”

I have also had, on other browsing occasions, as already mentioned in another thread:

"Loading... waiting for zoringroup.com - never does

This site can’t be reached
http://www.itzgeek.com’s server could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN (then it opened!)

Resolving host...
There is no Internet connection
Try:
Checking the network cables, modem and router
Reconnecting to Wi-Fi
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET"

Anything that I can try to get things better? I have already repowered my router and changed my DNS provider - no change.

No problems so far with posting since changing to Google DNS for IP4:

8.8.8.8
and
8.8.4.4

I will keep the thread open to review things for a while

My BT home hub 5 router is about 15 ft across the lounge.

Fortunately, I think that thing are looking up - Great!

What I have found is that my laptop seems to get confused between my actual router and the "FON" setting available to any BT customer in the area (A bit galling this feature to say the least - you can't opt out).

What I did was to log on to the "FON" element of the router, which then gave me the option to "forget all the settings for this router - or some such). Then I logged on to my router repeatedly until I got th little tick next to the router. From then on it seems to have reopened from lid closed, each time, with the tick.

Combining this with geeting rid of Slimjet - separate posting - and using Firefox and Opera and the laptop is finally flying.

I will close this posting after a few days successful running.

Open command pannel and type ipconfig /release then type ipconfig /flushdns then ipconfig /renew and after this reboot your system and check for the errors.

Remarkably enough - the linking to WiFi issue returned after writing my last posting.

Even though I keep All Settings > network minimised - to keep the little Tick next to my router alive - it had somehow disappeared and hence no WiFi connection. No joy with clicking the router box to re-establish WiFi connection with the tick.

What is the little tick and why is it so important?

I had to power down and restart twice before the little tick reappeared.

I am jealously guarding it as best I can.

I have two TP link mains extenders upstairs and they work fine.

Perhaps I will follow you and bring one downstairs to use with this machine.

Hi Finston, they aren't extenders (extenders tend to be wireless based). The ones I use are equivalent to hard wiring to a comms box - they use the earth link to transmit data at rapid speeds.

I had to buy one of these as the router only has 4 Ethernet ports:

Good point, Swarf - wrong symantics by me - I have the things that plug into the sockets of the house and they seem to work really well.

I also used one of those network switches, connected to one of my plug in thingies, to get extra gigabit ethernet connections to my various internet devices connected to my TV. The combo works particularly well, fortunately.
