(SOLVED) DNS safety

In another thread, DNS safety came up referencing:

I read the article quickly - it seemed fairly neutral to me.

How exactly is security compromised by using Google'd DNS servers? - they seem pretty zippy to me compared with the BT ones I used to use (unless I had another issue at the time - which is possible - time to revisit?).

Naturally, I will change to whatever is seen as safe - if there is an issue with google DNS.

I think it has something to do with the Privacy issue and that instead of discussing with other DNS providers they have chosen their own? It's as much a political issue as anything else:
