Zorin OS 12.4 core not coming out of Unlock

Let's say I press Super+L and lock the computer. About 30% of the time, when I move to unlock, it will not respond. Screens stay dark and nothing happens- I must reboot in order to get operational again.

Strangely on other occasions, it will unlock, but the password prompt window has stretched distorted script run across it.
For boot, I am using LightDM.
I have searched and searched and cannot find a solution, much less anyone else describing the same problem.
Any suggestions?

@Swarfendor, please don't feel pressured. I appreciate any help anyone can provide.
Most often, the issue is just annoying. On occasion though, an open project can be lost due to it, things on notepad or in a yet to be saved .pdf. While I try to save often to mitigate that hazard, when things get hectic and busy, I really just prefer things to work properly rather than me stepping in to fill that gap.
So, no emergency.

I was stupid enough to order SB Audigy Rx and no matter what I do it won't work with the Audigy 2 plugins from Synaptic. I now have a 'Think Penguin' Asus PCIe Zonar sound card - strange you can only get the old PCI version in UK! And so far it isn't working either - and they also suggest installing ALSA as a 'workaround'.
I am posting this from Fedora Workstaion 27 live.

I have had some luck, though this remains unsolved. I have greatly reduced the frequency of it occurring by altering my settings to never put the computer to sleep on its own. About 30% of the time, if I hit super+L, it won't come out of unlock. So, not yet solved, but better than it was.
Suggestions still welcome.
