Downloading Photos From a Samsung Galaxy J7 Phone to Shotwel

I have an android Samsung Galaxy J7 phone and want to download pictures to either Shotwell or Pictures. How is that done? Thanks.

Piper, are you using Zorin 15 or 12.4?

Do you have a USB charging cable? Connect that to the phone and USB end to USB port in computer with Zorin 15 on - if you tap the usb properties on your phone you should get drop down for you to change from charging to file transfer or 3rd option mtp - photo transfers only. Your device should show up on your desktop as 'android'.
