According to Wine4 Testing, Dragon was rated as "Garbage" in its performance on Wine. They don't hold back, do they?
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=2077
It got bronze and silver ratings on wine 1 and 3 respectively.

If you have just installed Zorin 12.4, then you would have wine3. But I would recommend upping it to Wine4. For performance with Dragon naturally speaking, however... It looks like it will not work very well. It is currently in staging.
If you just installed Zorin 15, it did not come with Wine so any installation of Wine you make now will probably be Wine4

Scrivener; I found this:
https://www.literatureandlatte.com/foru ... m.php?f=33
It also has very good ratings on Wine:
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=12274

WOW is also Highly rated on Wine:
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=1922

Though, (I have no clue about this) I wonder if you can add on Steam?

Well, they might. Then again, they might not. not being snide, just the nature of Wine. Not worth it most of the time, IMO. too hard to actually get it up and running.

Are you using wine4 or wine3?
I have really had only a few issues with Wine3, though they were very trying on my nerves.
Wine4 has been smooth as silk.

I tried getting MS Office to work in Wine 4.0. Tried it all kinds of ways, with and without the usual aux. programs, no go. Gave up. Installed Windows 7 in virtual box instead, and that worked great. Office works fine in it. Orly trouble is, I has used up the authorizations, so it was all a waste anyway. Which only points out that it's best to go with Linux solutions, unless there's something you absolutely must use Windows for, like music or video. (I am fine with Linux office apps, it was my wife I was doing all this for. She's still addicted to Windows).

I remember that...

Yeah, i suppose Wine can be pretty hit and miss. I thought about switching to Linux for ten damn years before I finally did and I only did it because my hard drive died, taking my Windows OS with it.
I was certainly not addicted to windows, speaking for myself. I think what held me back was that I had invested a lot of time in learning how to use Windows effectively. It seemed like starting all over again.
There are only two things I use Wine for, now. One required a patch but only because that software was for Windows 95. and is utterly obsolete in Windows 10. The rest all have Linux substitutes. I keep finding other things to adapt to Linux, as well. Like there is Firestorm for Second Life for example (No, I do not use Second Life. Found it for someone else).

Best I can suggest to anyone is try it out, see it it works. It may sometimes take a couple fanagles. If not, look for a Linux alternative. If that doesn't work... Your solution for Virtualbox MAY work for some, though I suspect that could get pretty slow.
Especially for anything resource intensive.

Since Dragon won't run on Wine, is there a Linux package that will do the same job. I have arthritis in my hands, so typing is slow and painful. Am I going to be stuck with sharing my laptop with Windoze just so I can run Dragon?

I don't normally support anything from Google but this may be the only possibility at the moment:

There are GNU/Linux alternatives:

However, can't remember if it was Julius or Simon I looked at some time ago and whichever one it was needed Debian to run. :(

Apparently Chromium has a Voice Input setting, as well.

Install espeak using package manager
Code:
sudo apt-get install espeak

Code:
chromium-browser --enable-speech-dispatcher
