There could be any number of reasons why this won't work. The easy ones:

1. Boot into Windows, go to Power Options and unhide advanced power options and turn off sleep mode for hard drive to never.
Reboot into BIOS (I explained in the unofficial manual how to do this for different manufacturers)
1.a - Use Windows Disk Management tool to determine how many partitions are marked as 'Primary' - the maximum any system (disregarding number of hard drives) will only ever allow four primary partitions - if this is the case for you you are going to have to decide which one to remove.
2. Disable Fast boot in BIOS (If BIOS supports this)
2. Disable Windows Boot Manager in BIOS (If BIOS supports this)
3. Disable EFI boot and enable Legacy boot (if BIOS supports this)/enable dual EFI/Legacy boot mode - Some BIOS settings even ask how you want to deal with external media, whether to boot as EFI or Legacy.

My 2 cents is to use EasyBCD: https://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/
