Can't set new "change keyboard layout" combo

When I click at the default combo in "Keyboard settings", a window pops up inviting me to enter a new key combination, but it doesn't accept alt+shift or anything without win/super key. Is this fixable? Can I set a combo manually?

Is this to launch the menu without using the Super Key?

Have you tried changing the layout using the Gnome Tweaks tool?

I tried dconf instead, no effect. No, I haven't tried gnome tweaks.

Perhaps Aravisian's suggestion is the way forward:

If you click on the 'arrow-heads' to the left of each setting shown you get a plethora of choices for each item. :D
