Headphone popping noise

As above. Installed Zorin on a Macbook air and it runs beautifully aside from popping noise when headphones are used with direct connect or bluetooth. Have tried several suggestions on debian boards but no luck. Anyone else had this problem? Any fixes?

a minor second problem is intermittent change in screen brightness (not associated with popping noises)

Which version of Zorin please, 12 or 15, Core or Lite? Have you tried installing ALSA alongside of Pulse Audio? (Sadly you can't pull Pulse Audio out of the equation, thanks to Canonical embedding PulseAudio in the system - the same idiot that devised systemd!)

OS 15.1 core

much written on other forums but no solid fix. Have changed some scripts as suggested to turn off Pulseaudio timer scheduler and modifying powersaving, but no luck

I have looked this up and probably have seen all the same tips that you have.
