(SOLVED) Plex Media Server

Would you believe it!

After struggling mightily to get Plex working, it looks like some Zorin update or other mishap has stopped my Plex Media Server from working correctly.

No sign of it after:

sudo service plexmediaserver start
sudo service plexmediaserver stop
sudo service plexmediaserver restart

on :

http://localhost:32400/web/

Showing:

"ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED" in Chrome

and

"Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:32400." in Firefox

Is it there but not accepting my approaches? How do I get it to come out from the shadows?

Any ideas, anyone

I see plex has updated its packaging:

https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-media-ser ... ate/507468

Not saying this is the issue - might be worth:

1. Posting on their forum, noting which kernel is active.

2. Try booting into an earlier kernel to see if that is the issue. ;) :D

I did a little research last night and found a Plex issues forum:

https://forums.plex.tv/t/err_connection ... /106570/34

Reading through this it seems as though multiple instances of Plex could be running at once and deny access to any other than the original instance.

Plex Media Manager was certainly running as shown in Htop Process Viewer.

Time to take action!

“sudo service plexmediaserver stop” four of five times,

followed by a

“sudo service plexmediaserver restart”

Blow me everything is back to normal this morning!

I also had a look at Swarf's link - thanks for that.

It could be that this will make things a lot easier plex on Zorin O/S.

However, I will leave what is running well, well alone.
