If you want to set up a security checkpoint on a Wired connection, you can set up your hashing algorithm (MD5), then choose a username and password on that tab.
Most do not on a wired connection, as that is a direct connection and the computer is generally protected by a lockscreen. Though you may have cause to disable internet access on a computer that is wired in, requiring the user to authenticate net usage before they can connect.

Just to add that is usually for secure connection to a domain/server.
