Hi All,
Newbie here. I installed Zorin Core OS last night on an old Dell E6400 I had lying around. It is the only OS installed on the laptop (replacing Win 7) and the 'live' USB version all worked fine before I installed it. It has 4GB RAM and an 80GB HDD.
During the OS setup options, I had the option to encrypt the drive which I did. Unfortunately, the drive encryption password I chose included a Hashtag (#).
Installation completed fine, but on restarting the laptop, I am unable to get into the OS as the drive encryption password is deemed incorrect!
The keyboard settings I selected were English (UK). I can only assume the Keyboard settings were different in the initial setup stage and that the hashtag I entered is actually a different keyboard character altogether!
I've tried different keyboard keys (e.g. Shift + 2, Shift + #, Shift and @) to replicate what it could be but to no avail.
So assuming I'm right and that I've entered a different character, I have three questions:
- Does anyone know what the default keyboard layout is for the setup page when English is selected?
- Does anyone know what other keyboard character it could be since the UK '#' key is deemed incorrect?
- Failing the above, what is the best way to remove encryption from the drive and start again?
Many thanks!
