[SOLVED] Intermittent sound through HDMI

I am enjoying Zorin Ultimate 15.2, but I have a difficulty with sound when I connect my Dell XPS 13 (9380) to my TV. The sound comes in and out. I have not timed it, but the sound regularly drops for roughly 30% of the time.

Here is what I have done:
    - I have checked to make sure that I have Pulse Audio installed.
    - I also checked whether I could install a proprietary NVIDIA driver (having read online that sometimes graphics card drivers can be the culprit in these situations), but there is no proprietary driver listed.
All other troubleshooting sites that I have seen address the problem of no sound through HDMI, but that is not my problem.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to sort out the problem?

This Dell thread might shed some light?

Thank you, Swarfendor437. That was indeed the issue. As far as I can tell, a proper thunderbolt adapter has solved the problem.
