Is there some sort of automated program installer with UI?

Windows has Windows install shield, but installing stuff with linux is a nightmare. Are there any install shields that get the job done without going to command line?

Hi,

you can use Synaptic or gdebi package installer, you can also use the Ubuntu software center!!.

Here is a little info for you and try when downloading 3rd party packages; to stick to .deb packages!!.
