[SOLVED] Clock keeps changing time.

I have Windows 7 installed on one hard drive and Zorin OS 64-bit installed on another hard drive. I'll boot using Zorin and notice that the clock is not displaying the correct time. However, I'll wait a 2-3 minutes and the time displays correctly. However, when I boot back to use Windows 7, the clock is showing the incorrect time. The clock seems to change everytime I switch back and forth from using Windows 7 to Zorin and vice-versa. Any suggestions?

Also, when I select the start menu and do a search for Date and Time (or it could be Time and Date), I notice that there are two items of Date and Time displaying.

Hi,

only allow one of the OS'es to control the clock or it can lead to the problem you are having, if you have Windows set to manage the clock, either disable the Windows clock manager; or the one in Zorin!!.

As I am fairly new user to the Zorin OS and this is a Zorin forum, please tell me how to disable the clock manager in Zorin.

I've just tried to see if I can set the time in Ultimate 5.0 and I get a brief glimpse of what looks like a Compiz temperature bar briefly appearing and then disappearing when I click on Time Settings - weird!

On Windows, I am synching with the Time Servers on the Internet. However, as a new Zorin OS user, I do not know if I am synchronising with the Time Servers on the Internet or not. Can you tell me how to check (in the Zorin OS) if I am synching with Time Servers on the Internet?

Hi swarf,

I cannot emulate what you have done; so I don't have an answer for you!! :(

SOLUTION:
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/default/rcS

Once in the file, find UTC=yes. Change the line to read UTC=no. Save file. Reboot computer.

I have had no more system clock problems after this simple fix when dual booting between Windows 7 and Zorin OS 5.2 (64-bit).
