[SOLVED] Free Zorion OS - Installing Issues!

Hi!

I downloaded the free Zorion OS 32bit from your website using the Firefox browser as recommended.
Then used Imgburn to burn the iso file at 4x speed and also checked the box that verifies the image
on the disc after it is burned. I then boot the DVD and see the initial screen, and choose the first option,
after which I get, 'invalid or corrupt kernel' error message.
What am I doing wrong? Grateful for any help/advice you can give me.
I'm using Win XP Pro+Sp3 with all the latest updates.
Thank you and regards

Jay

Could you please advise the specifications of your PC/laptop?

Hi,

try re-downloading the ISO from a different location and burn it at the SLOWEST SPEED POSSIBLE!.

Thanks for the replies!
My PC is an assembled one with a 3.4Ghz Pentium 4 CPU and a Nvidia FX 5700 GPU
As for the suggestion of re-downloading the iso image from a different location and then
burning it at 1X (the lowest speed available on the Imgburn application), I will do so
and get back to you.

A totally frustrating experience so far......
I did a checksum verification of the iso file I had and as suspected it did not match.
So as suggested by Wolfman, I once again downloaded the file from a different server
using Firefox and this time the checksum verification was correct.
Then used Imgburn at the slowest speed of 1x and got the PC to boot off the DVD I made.
The same initial screen appeared and as before, I chose the first option.
Thankfully, this time there was no error message, but thereafter the screen went totally blank.
Waited for a full 5 minutes, during which time, I could see the light in the CD/DVD Rom blinking, and nothing happening.
So what next? I am at the end of my patience and I have nothing to show excepting 5 ruined DVD blanks :(

Try booting from the DVD but select the 3rd option from the menu (start the installer directly).

Did you also try it in "Safe Graphics Mode" ???.

Have you also tried any other version of Linux and if so; did you have the same problem????.

I think I found the answer.
There is nothing wrong with the DVD but it is the CD/DVD Drive.

While waiting to figure out the problem with Zorin, I downloaded Linux Mint 12,
checked it's md5 checksum and then burnt the iso with Imgburn at the slowest speed.
I found the same issues I had with Zorin!

I then figured it must be something to do with either the Imgburn burn process
or most likely with the CD/DVD drive itself

To test this, I took the Zorin DVD to my place of work where I was able to boot the OS.
So now I have to look to either repairing or replacing the drive.
Thanks to all of you for your generous help and assistance.
