How do you reset compiz?..

Hi,

How do you restart Compiz without logging out? Every now and then for some reason I have not figured out it stops working. I installed the "Compiz Fusion Icon", but it doesn't show-up on the panel.

P.S. I ran this for the "Compiz Fusion Icon" and I get this:

Hi,

press Alt + t and a terminal will appear, enter:

sudo service gdm restart

this will restart Gnome!!.

If you want to reset compiz you can open compiz click on preferences and then reset to defaults.

Thanks!... I tried the "sudo service gdm restart", but for some reason it not me to the boot session screen and was taking a long time so I restarted.

One thing I found out that I have the old version of "Compiz Fusion Icon" 0.1.x, there latest is 0.8.x, but their instruction on how to install the source doesn't match the files supplied. I download the "compiz-0.8.8"

compiz uses automake, in order to generate the Makefiles for compiz use:

   $ autogen.sh  <----- no such script

After that, standard build procedures apply:

   $ make
   # make install


...has anyone updated their "Compize Fusion Icon" or has is working?
