How to network Windows and Zorin ?

Hello guys I just wanna ask if is it possible to network Windows and Zorin ? What I mean is that connect them two using router through straight-through cable, that can share Files/Printers. I have a small knowledge about computer networking and I only knew it on Windows OS only and not on a Linux distro. By the way I'm using the Zorin Lite 6 OS on my netbook and Windows on my desktop, I want to connect them to so that I could do file sharing.
