installation of Zorin power down

Hi to the community.
After installing Zorin after power down or re boot during this process the monitor goes off, but the screen goes from the desk top to shut down and i get white and black odd looking lines and what looks like weird characters, yet there not characters it looks like a disrupted screen, it boots up ok and does shut down, can anyone suggest what this odd behavior is, or is it normal, i really don't know, very much a newbie to any Linux. Thanks for any ideas or help. :)

did you fully update your system?:

Did you install the graphic card drivers in the hardware section of the control center (Additional Drivers)??.

Hi and thanks for your replys, sorry ive been gone a while, anway no i had no internet connection during instalation as i only have 3G wireless dongle for the internet, but i will look for possible driver updates, graphics are intergrated and not upgragable as its a Compaq Ipaq 500 MHZ cpu 512 Ram 4 MB video memory, yes low i know, oh and 40 GB ide hard drive and CD Rom. The OS is Zorin lite.

Thanks again i will chase up those possible drivers.
