The ONLY linux I could successfully install on hp pavilion g6 series is Zorin 5.2 64 bit; Zorin 32 bit gave me funny looking screen, with no option to login. I've tried every variant of Debian (didn't go anywhere else) and even though live version worked fine (even wireless) the first thing after install/reboot was black screen. VERY frustrating - wasn't a live install give a hint as to what works what doesn't? More often than not, even first try on live version would give me black screen. Zorin 64 is the only thing that works so far; had to find and successfully install atheros AR9485 drivers, but after security updates had to redo it again.
Still can't find 64 bit driver for my panasonic laser printer, but I'll live with that. Just my 2c worth...
