Hi,

further to Swarfs comments, you can also try (if you have the time and energy) re-installing and select "Use complete drive" and it will auto create all the partitions and install the bootloader automatically!!.

Hi,

the master should have the name "sda" which should always be the primary drive, "sdb" should be the slave!!.

You can download a partition tool from here:

http://partedmagic.com/doku.php

Partitioning how-to:

http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=using_gparted

Did you burn the ISO at the slowest possible speed??.

Hi,

you are in a slighty tricky situation here as your drives are nearly both the same size!!. Normally what I would do is create a root partition of about 20GB, a swap which is double my RAM and then my home which can be any size, you however have the choice to create your home partition on the slave drive (sdb) or reduce your main drive (sda) and have a smaller home if you split your drive 50/50.

You can use the slave drive (sdb) simply as a backup drive or use it as the home partition, I wouldn't use the whole of sda for root because it is a waste of space.

In an ideal world, you should have one large drive with all your partitions on that, then if you have another drive, you can use it for backup!!.

I hope what I have written makes sense to you but basically the problem lies with the mount points, you cannot make 2 seperate patrtitions as your home!!.
