Hi,

when you created the DVD, did you burn it at the slowest possible speed??. If you didn't you will get read/write errors!!.

Did you try booting the DVD in safe graphics mode??. (2nd boot option)

On what type of PC are you trying to install??. Details please!.

Hi SC,

have you tried the same DVD on another PC and does it work??. You could try as an option using a 32 bit version of Zorin!!.

I had exactly the same problem. Later i found out the reason may be that my cpu is a non-pae cpu.

From what i understand, Ubuntu 12.04 can't be installed on a non-pae cpu. For that reason any other operating system based on Ubuntu 12.04 can't install on a non-pae cpu. So check to see if your cpu is a non-pae cpu. (i don't know the procedure to do that)

Here is a link on how to install ubuntu on a non-pae cpu http://www.webupd8.org/2012/05/how-to-install-ubuntu-1204-on-non-pae.html

there's also an unofficial non-pae Ubuntu 12.04 ISO available for download : http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/12.04-nonpae/ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386-nonpae.iso

What i think the Zorin team should do is to come up with a non-pae version of Zorin 6.

I also want to mention that Zorin 5.2 works fine on my IBM R40 laptop. So if there is a way to upgrade directly from Zorin 5.2 to Zorin 6, please let me know.

Hi,

here is a link about the PAE kernel explaining all about it:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EnablingPAE/

No!!, you cannot update Z5 to Z6, you should backup all your data and completely format both root and home partitions, save any files you need before you start the install and copy them back when finished!!.

Hi,

did you try an USB install??.

Please also see this link about Nvidia cards, but you should still be able to boot with the open source drivers:
