(NOT SOLVED BUT CLOSED) seconds and date etc in clock

Hi,
Just downloaded and installed Zorin 6, updated fully using apt-get-update etc.,
Not much difference from Zorin 6 Lite.
Using dconf-editor, I clicked on 'clock-show-date' and 'clock-show-seconds', yet, even after a reboot, nothing has changed. The clock shows time in the format "10:34 PM" as it always did.
I could successfully change in Zorin-lite.
Please help.
(It is a minor issue, yet maybe a bug ?)
Regards and thanks,
Shrinivas

Hi,

you can take a look here for the settings for the clock!!.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2061

(Short cut):

Dconf Editor > Com > Canonical > Indicator > Datetime > Show Date/Show Day

Is that what you did!!??. It should change immediately after you put the ticks in the boxes!!.

Thanks Wolfman, that's what I did, but no-go !
It used to in my earlier install of Zorin-Lite.

Hi shrinivas,

did you also do this because it should work if your system is up-to-date:

Yes, Wolfman, I did update using terminal, it downloaded about 180 MB of updates including the new kernel. I did not tick any Unsupported updates, or Prereleased updates etc.
I did not change anything in Synaptic, except, "Delete packages after installation" and ensure that it is using Main Server.
After this only I started tinkering with the changes.
BTW, before installing I checked the md5sum of the ISO, which matched, and burnt using ImgBurn.
Anyway, I wil use it for a few days, the system is stable. And afterwards, I may re-install.
Or,should I enable all the repositories and update once again ? I will do so after taking a backup through Clonezilla. Or re-install Ubuntu-Tweak, perhaps.
I am happy with the system as it is, I only reported because it may be a bug.
My system specs are: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200, 2 GB RAM, 512 MB nVidia 9600GT graphic card. I have installed 32-bit Zorin 6.
I have not installed nVidia drivers, because in my earlier Zorin-Lite installation it gave problems with Compiz. So using Nouveau drivers w/o problems.

Hi Shrinivas,

Ubuntu Tweak is already installed!!, and yes!, in my opinion you should tick all the boxes for software updates but only you can decide that!!.

Does the show date thing now work after the update?.

Nah, it still doesn't.
Has no one else reported this problem ? Is it reproducible ?
Perhaps it was a bad burn, I will re-install after a few days and check.

P.S. Please close this discussion as it doesn't involve anyone else and may be particular to my system/installation
