video driver problem?

I tested Zorin OS 5.2 on an old PIII computer with 512M RAM\16MB generic video card and it worked well so I thought I'd install it on a new, but still old, machine.
Install went fine but the graphics are all messed up. I mean if you click on the OS menu button only part of the menu pops up and if you click somewhere else on the desktop instead of going away the menu partially stays there. You can click and hold the left mouse and drag it over the menu and it erases it and shows the desktop.

Sounds like a driver issue maybe? Not refreshing properly? Not sure and it's difficult to try to adjust because menus don't appear or if they do they don't disappear when you are done with them. It's incredibly had to try and navigate screens that appear, don't appear, partially appear and partially disappear ...

Tried booting recovery mode with base graphics but still the same issue. Posted below find the specs for my MB which is an ASUS P4P800-VM with 1GB RAM

Any suggestions would be great.

TIA Danneauxs
