Sorry in advance for my noobness, I have an older system with via display and sound drivers. The sound doesn't work at all and the display flashes almost every time I move the mouse. And brings up "ghost" windows that I have already closed. When I go to the menu button it comes up and disappears until I move the mouse over it EDT. If this part of the NvIda bug? What can I do to patch this?.thanks for all your hard work, what I have seen is awesome!

Hi.
First of all open terminal and give the result of
Code:
lspci
to verify the exact model of your GPU.
Have you tried going to "additional drivers" to check if there is any recommended driver available to be enabled?

You could also try the Nvidia 3rd PPA as explained in Wolfmans very useful guide here, but please first give the result of lspci to see your GPU.

Yes, I have tried the additional drivers before going thru the terminal but it didn't list any. Then I updated and upgraded thru the terminal as described in an earlier post, and also thru synaptic. As soon as I can get home I'll copy the code and try the sound suggestions. Thanks for your replies!

I see that a bug-report has been filed for your problem. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/927168 SInce this is an LTS version, hopefully it would be resolved soon enough.

Hi,

getting the sound to work is half the battle, lets hope that the devs come up with a fix for the Nvidia cards soon :D (I have an Nvidia card too!!)
