Hi there,

Is Avast ( http://www.avast.com/linux-home-edition ) compatible with Zorin.........if yes how does one install it?

How do you rate it vs Bit defender?

Regards!

Hi Chris,

just download the deb package and double click the package to install it, it is only an on demand scanner but it is every bit as good as BitDefender I would think.

Thanks Wolfman for sharing your expert views.

Isn't Bit Defender on demand scanner too?

I would prefer a on demand vs real time.........other wise why use Linux...........

Hi Chris,

BD and Avast are both on demand scanners, the difference I suppose is a simple interface in Avast!!.

Wasn't Zorin supposed to have some strong inbuilt security?

Hi Ashir,

Zorin has the bog standard security that comes with Ubuntu, the firewall is not activated by default and no AntiVirus software!!. Linux is however far safer than Windows in terms of security even without an AV app installed.

@Wolfman

- Do you use an Anti-virus on your Zorin machine?
