I just got Zorin OS and i am trying to re-download some stuff i had on windows but the OS wont let me. It says something about the file not being marked as executable. Please help me because this is really annoying, I don't have my fire wall on and the file extension reads EXE.

Hi,

if you are trying to install windows files on Linux; you will need Wine, please bear in mind that not all files or Windows apps will work on Linux.

To make a file executable; right click and go to properties, then permissions and put a tick in Execute.

NOT EVERYTHING THAT RUNS UNDER WINDOWS WILL WORK WITH THESE APPS!!!!!!!!!!!!.

What exactly are you trying to install, the more info you provide, the quicker someone can help you!!.

Hi westraptor,
you also might like to see the Linux program equivalents to many Windows apps - I transistioned to many equivalent applications and found some to be as good and in some cases better ... some are pre installed with Zorin and others that are not can be installed thru Synaptic.

Check them out ;)
