Mouse Wheel Scrolling Speed

I am still having trouble with my mouse wheel almost rending ZorinOS unusable. 1/8 of a turn of the scroll wheel on the mouse can take you from the top of the page to the bottom in an instant. Is there a way to slow this down? Tried different mice, playing with the settings in Control Center, etc. However, I don't believe there is a setting for the mouse scroll wheel in there.

Hi,

I think I have found the settings in Dconf:

Dconf Editor > Org > Gnome > Settings-Daemon > Mouse

and take a look there, restart your PC afterwards.

A shot in dark is to paste this command in a terminal and restart:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.mouse middle-button-enabled true

How do I get to Dconf Editor? sudo apt-get install dconf-tools. Once installed, run dconf-tools?

open a terminal with "Ctrl + Alt + t"

type in the terminal:

dconf-editor

You could also download from the software center the packages:

"Keyboard and mouse"
"Pointing devices"

And check the settings there. As I see, there are options for the mouse scrolling speed etc.

I'm having the same problem, and can't get any of the suggestions to work. Starting dconf from a terminal just locks it up and neither of the other two options will even start up.

Any other ideas on how to fix this mess and make Zorin usable?

Hi,

have you fully updated your system ??:

Do that first if you haven't already done it and let us know if it helps.

Have you also tried enabling Natural scrolling with Ubuntu Tweak??.

Yes. All that does is cause the the scroll wheel to run in reverse. Now when I turn the wheel to scroll down, it scrolls up and vice versa.

Any other ideas or do I need to wait for the next release for it to be fixed?

Hi,

try running "dpkg" from the recovery menu.

I don't know of a fix, it may work itself out with updates, it has been reported as a bug for some time now!!.

Are your software sources set to "Main" ??.

Do you have another mouse you can try out??, borrow one maybe, it might just be a specific type of mouse brand!!.
